In addition to the other benefits and opportunities of Chamber Membership, the Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce has a number of committees addressing a variety of issues of interest, value and concern to members. We encourage our members to get more involved by joining one of our committees. Committees typically meet once every other month.
FINANCE: Responsible for setting a budget to be voted on, fundraising/non-member income ideas, cost saving measures, and scholarship decisions.
ADVOCACY/GOVT AFFAIRS: This committee will connect municipalities. Representatives
attend meetings of both City Council meetings, County Commissioner meetings, and Board of
Education Meetings. Help with Candidates’ Forums. Start and organize a Community Council quarterly
lunch to help link the entire county.
EVENTS/ MARKETING (SHOP LOCAL): This committee will include organizing NC Mineral and Gem Festival, Concerts, Shop Local Campaigns throughout the year, and creating a shop local catalogue.
MEMBERSHIP AMBASSADORS: This will include member retention, gaining new members through
communications. This team will have a close relationship with our chamber members and community.
OUTDOOR RECREATION: This committee will be working on projects through our partnership with BOC, Made X Mtns and Appalachian State. They will be involved in depth with Mitchell Counties outdoor
economy and programs.
