Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce Announces Three-Year Agreement for NC Mineral and Gem Festival at Three Peaks Enrichment Center

The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a new three-year contract agreement with the Mayland Community College Enterprise Corporation to host the North Carolina Mineral and Gem Festival at the Three Peaks Enrichment Center.

First established in 1959, the North Carolina Mineral and Gem Festival has been held in Spruce Pine for more than six decades, becoming a cornerstone event for the region. Today, the festival draws thousands of visitors annually and generates a multi-million-dollar economic impact for Mitchell County, supporting local small businesses, restaurants, and lodging providers.

This new agreement secures the festival’s location at the Three Peaks Enrichment Center for the next three years, positioning the event for continued growth. The venue offers expanded space, improved accessibility, and modern amenities to enhance both vendor and visitor experiences. In addition, the Three Peaks Enrichment Center continues to evolve, with ongoing development and planned expansions expected to further elevate the site in the coming years.

“This agreement reflects our deep gratitude for the partnership with Mayland Community College Enterprise Corporation and the incredible work they are doing at the Three Peaks Enrichment Center,” said Bill Slagle, Executive Director of the Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission. “The importance of this new venue cannot be overstated—it provides a strong foundation for the future of the North Carolina Mineral and Gem Festival and ensures we can continue to grow an event that delivers significant economic impact for our community.”

The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce looks forward to building on the festival’s long-standing legacy through this collaboration and continuing to showcase the unique cultural heritage and natural resources that define Mitchell County.
