On Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce was proud to host a ribbon cutting celebration for the grand opening of the new License Plate Agency in Spruce Pine. This much-anticipated opening marks an important step in restoring and enhancing essential services in our community.
Local leaders, community members, and Chamber representatives gathered at the new location to officially welcome the agency to town. The ribbon cutting was not just a ceremonial moment—it was a symbol of resilience, progress, and commitment to serving the needs of Mitchell County residents.
After the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, which disrupted numerous local services, the return of the local License Plate Agency means convenience and access for residents. The new office is fully equipped to provide vehicle registration, license plate renewals, title transfers, and more—all right here in Spruce Pine.
The celebration included remarks from Shelley Buchanan, agency Director, refreshments, and an opportunity for guests to tour the new space and learn more about the services available.
We’re thrilled to have this new office in Mitchell County, and we extend our congratulations and gratitude to the team making it all possible.
